Positive Active Living for Students (PALS)

The Positive Active Living for Students (PALS) program is entering its 25th year of programming for elementary school students in grades one through eight. The program operates for eight weeks during May and June.

The objective of the program is to expose students to a variety of sports and activities that are inclusive for all students and is held at Brock University’s Walker Complex.

We recognize the importance of increasing the awareness of the need for daily physical activity in the lives of our young people. We are excited to offer activities that are exclusive to Brock and allow students access to our facilities.

The 2020 program will run weekdays from May 4th to June 25th.

Registration opens on Wednesday October 23, 2019 at 8:15am.

Check out some of our newest activities

A variety of co-operative activities played with an Omnikin Ball which is an inflatable ball that is approximately 48 inches in diameter. A very different activity that has the students working together in a variety of fun challenges.

A unique game similar to Handball but with no defence. Teams attempt to bounce a ball off a trampoline-like net to get the ball to hit the ground. Students learn about moving into open space and working on sending and receiving skills.

A racquet sport played with wooden or plastic paddles and whiffle balls on a badminton court with lowered nets and rules similar to table tennis. Great for all ages of students and an excellent way to develop their racquet sport skills.

We recognize that some classes have previously attended PALS. We will work with the teacher to provide activities which are different from other years the children have attended.

Safety

We ensure that all of our equipment, facilities and programming are safe for all participants. Instructors perform safety checks before, after and during the day. All instructors are Brock University students who have police checks and are certified in First Aid and CPR. All lifeguards are NL certified and have police checks. If you have a question about any safety questions, please call Megan Locker at 905 688 5550 x4699 or email mlocker@brocku.ca.
