COVID-19 Information

Brock University requires everyone who comes to the Brock campus to be fully vaccinated – this requirement continues to be in affect through May and June 2022.  Brock University approved exceptions are accepted as well.

Please ensure that you bring your QR code or your Brock ID card each time you visit the Walker Sports Complex:

  1.  proof of vaccination OR Brock approved exception (if you were vaccinated in Ontario, download here).  If your vaccination was completed outside of Ontario, please bring proof of your vaccinations.  A QR code is the only proof of vaccine that can be accepted.
  2.  Brock ID card, or photo ID with picture

If you do not meet these requirements, please do not come to Brock University’s campus.

Virtual Offerings

Brock Recreation has a full compliment of virtual fitness classes on demand available here.

The following facilities will be available for student use: the Zone Fitness centre, the pool for lane swims, the indoor track,  studio space, indoor badminton, volleyball and basketball.  Outdoor spaces continue to be available.

Not available currently are the following:   Squash courts, whirlpool, saunas.

Pre-reservation Process

Pre-reservation is only required for Expressfit and Spin classes, and tennis court bookings.

Brock University students who would like to access the facilities must follow the below process:

  1. Log on to https://ca.apm.activecommunities.com/brocku/
  2. Sign in under “CampusID” using your Brock student email and password. For example, sb66zz@brocku.ca.
  3. You can search for the activity you would like to book a time for by typing it in the search bar (e.g., tennis), or just select the drop down menu entitled “Activities” at the top of the page. See all direct registration links to activities available.
  4. Once you have the activity on your screen that you would like to register for, choose “Add to Cart”.
  5. Choose “Enroll Now”.
  6. Select your name as the participant.
  7. You will see a list of times available (scroll to the bottom of the page).
  8. Once there, you will see all of the time slots available for the activity. Click the checkbox for the day/time you would like to reserve. NOTE: You can only book one time slot per activity, per day.
  9. When finished your selection, choose “Add to Cart”.
  10. Answer all required questions and choose “Continue”.
  11. The payment due should be $0.00. (NOTE: If you book more than one time slot in one day, you will see a charge of $250 as you check out. You will need to start your reservation process again.)
  12. Please read the Waiver, and initial.
  13. Choose “Finish”. You will receive a confirmation of your booking.
  14. When you arrive at the Walker Sports Complex, please check in on the lower level at “the Cage” with your Brock ID card.

Waivers

All participants must read and sign the facility waiver, as well as the COVID-19 waiver prior to your first time using the Walker Sports Complex.

Frequently Asked Questions

You should come dressed for your activity (bring clean shoes for indoor activity) with as little extra equipment as possible.  If you are coming to play badminton, tennis, basketball, please bring the equipment needed if you can.  We will have some equipment to loan/rent if necessary.

The locker rooms are now open for day use – bring a lock and store your belongings.  Locks are available for sale at the Welcome Desk.  Showers are available as well.

Brock University requires anyone entering on-campus buildings to wear a medical mask if they’re able to. Learn more.

As of Sunday, March 6, 2022, participants may remove their masks while actively playing on a court, running on the track or working out in the Zone.  Masks must be worn off court, when moving between pieces of equipment or through the Zone, and at all other times at Brock University.

This  includes exemptions for those who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons, and other accommodations under the Ontario Human Rights Code. Students who require an exemption from the wearing a mask or face covering are asked to contact Campus Security, for direction regarding your request.   You must maintain a minimum of six feet of distance from other participants. You must wear a mask in the Walker Sports Complex, including while exercising.  Masks may be removed at the pool when you arrive at your lane.

Yes, you will see signage throughout the Walker Sports Complex regarding direction of traffic flow, remaining six feet apart, wearing face coverings and cleaning information.  We all need to work together to ensure the safety of all who participate in activity and work in the Walker Sports Complex.  Participants are asked to be diligent in cleaning equipment after using, staff will be sanitizing between use.  Extra sanitization will occur during evening closures.

Any student wishing to come to the Walker Sports Complex should check in on the lower level of the Walker Sport Complex at the Equipment Room (the Cage).   Bring your student ID card, and answer the screening questions on the Brock Safety app prior to arriving.

Once you have checked in, and your reservation is verified with your student ID, and you will be directed to your activity space. You should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your booking.

The locker room is available for your use, please wear your mask while in the locker room. Showering prior to swimming is mandatory, shower areas are available.

In the event that an individual who has an identified positive case of the virus, has been on Brock’s campus and in close proximity of other students, staff, or faculty, Brock will notify those who may have been exposed.  The information will be given to the contact tracer at Brock University through a secure method. This information may be maintained by Brock for one year.

Should we be notified of a positive case within a program operated through Brock Recreation, we will notify others who are registered in the program, so that they are advised to self-monitor for symptoms of Covid-19.

Feedback

Walker Sports Complex staff will continually evaluate processes, activity, and welcome feedback from you.  This will help to determine changes needed, and whether additional facilities and activities may be opened.  As Brock University moves towards Stage 4 of Pandemic Recovery, we anticipate adding facilities and activities.
