Teaching Day 2023

CPI’s annual Teaching Day (formerly TA Day) is on Thursday, September 7th, 2023!

What is Teaching Day?

The program offers professional development for Brock University Sessional Instructors, Teaching Assistants, Lab Demonstrators, Course Coordinators, Marker/Graders, and Tutorial Leaders from all disciplines. By participating in the workshops and activities TAs will earn credits towards the certificates in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Instructors will earn credits towards our new Instructor Certificate Program in University Teaching and Learning.

New and Returning teaching staff (sessional instructors, TAs, lab demonstrators, course coordinators, tutorial leaders, and marker/graders) are invited to join us!

What can you expect from Teaching Day 2023?

The day will begin at 9am. Workshops and activities will happen all morning and end at 1pm.

Those joining us on campus will be invited for a complimentary lunch in Market Hall (located in the lower level of the Schmon Tower)!

Plenary

Dr. Rajiv Jhangiani (Vice-Provost Teaching and Learning) joins us to talk about teaching and learning at Brock!

Workshops

Workshops for new and experienced TAs and instructors including: Brightspace and Sakai for TAs, What to do in the First Class, Pedagogy of Place, Energizers and Active Learning, and Universal Design for Learning and Accessibility.

Teaching tales panel discussion

We are excited to again have the opportunity to be joined by instructors and TAs who will answer questions and share their experiences teaching at Brock: busting myths and talking successes!
