Engagement Communities

Connect, receive personalized support, and have an exceptional first year experience with Engagement Communities.

As a student living off-campus in your first year, Engagement Communities will connect you to a small group of new students and a Peer Mentor. If you are living in Residence, your Engagement Community will be formed with your on-campus residence community.

ABOUT ENGAGEMENT COMMUNITIES

Engagement Communities bring together small groups of incoming students from similar academic programs and personal interests. Your Engagement Community is a place where students living off-campus can connect with other first year students, make friends, attend events, ask questions, and learn about resources.

Each Community is led by a trained upper year student called a Peer Mentor who will support and guide you.

Engagement Communities are formed based on your similar programs of study and personal interests. There are approximately 40-60 students in your Engagement Community.

Each Community is led by a trained upper year student called a Peer Mentor who will support and guide you. Your Engagement Community will also include one professional staff member and an additional upper-level student called a Senior Leader.

new undergraduate Students

If you are an incoming undergraduate student this Fall 2021, there is no need to join!  All students not living in Residence will be placed in an Engagement Community in early September.

Details coming soon!

2nd year students

If you will be starting your second year in Fall 2021, you will have the opportunity to opt-in to an Engagement Community. Please check your Brock email over the summer for more information and details about how to opt-in – coming Summer 2021.

If you are living in Residence: Your Engagement Community will be formed with your on-campus residence community.

Your Peer Mentor will create opportunities for you to connect with other students in your Community through events and weekly discussion topics. Your Peer Mentor will guide and support you to find opportunities to get involved and help you get started in the Campus-Wide Co-Curriculum (CWC). Through your Engagement Community and the First Year Experience Program, your Peer Mentor will highlight various events, programs, and opportunities to help you get involved and be successful as you start your Brock experience.

Stay tuned for more information about Engagement Communities this summer.
