Faculty and staff

Faculty and staff are seeing more and more students who are experiencing mental health issues. A staff or faculty member will often be one of the first people to find out a student is having problems that are interfering with their academic success or daily life.

Brock University is known for the concern their faculty and staff have for the well-being of their students. The University appreciates and values the role they play in identifying students who are experiencing difficulty. Recognizing the signs of emotional distress and responding with interest and concern may be a critical factor in helping students resolve issues interfering with their academic achievement. The role faculty and staff play is crucial in identifying students in distress and helping them find resources.

Mindfulness is being used as an experiential learning technique and contemplative practice to help students focus, listen and reduce stress.
