Spooky Shapes Game Jam 2022

LOCATION: Centre for Digital Humanities hallway (TH 269)
The Centre for Digital Humanities invites all Brock students to participate in our hosted Game Jam event. The Spooky Shapes Game Jam is designed to be friendly to newcomers and first-timers, alongside more experienced developers. There is ample mentoring, support, and candy on hand to try your hand at playing and creating in the Unity engine. Everything you need to participate will be provided; just bring your team and your ideas.
All members of a team should RSVP directly through ExperienceBU, with a team captain registering the members of their team with the CDH Project Coordinator by email (jleipert@brocku.ca). Similarly, please direct any questions or inquiries to Jeremy Leipert at the Project Coordinator’s office at the email listed. (The email step is expressly to facilitate communication and ensure all teams are accounted for properly.)
In registering your team, ensure you include each team members’ names and email addresses for communications purposes!
The Digital Scholarship Lab Annual Data Visualization Competition
DATASET Released: Tuesday November 1, 2022
Deadline: Wednesday November 30, 2022
Judging: Thursday December 1, 2022

The Brock University Digital Scholarship Lab invites you to show your skills in our annual Data Visualization contest!
Starting on November 1st, you will have 1 month to create your best data visualization using one of the three datasets provided. Entries will be reviewed by our panel of judges on December 1st based on the following criteria:
- Comprehension: How easy is it to see and understand the point(s) your visualization makes and why they are relevant?
- Insight: How innovative are the discoveries you made in the data?
- Aesthetics: Does it look good?
Submissions can be any type of data visualization you want! Digital submissions can be sent to DSL@Brocku.ca with “Data Visualization Contest Entry” as the subject line. If your file is too large to send via e-mail or has special requirements, please contact DSL@Brocku.ca and we will work out an apropriate submission method for you.
This contest is only open to Brock students. Only submissions received from a Brock email (@brocku.ca) will be considered for judging.
The chosen winner will get a $25 Amazon gift card and bragging rights for the year!
Student Game Showcase

The Centre for Digital Humanities MA students have been hard at work developing serious games. Join them on December 2 in the Digital Collaboratory for the Game Showcase to experience student creativity in action and on display.
