As the GIS and Data Services Librarian, I assist with all things data- and GIS-related at Brock, ranging from research data management (RDM) to data deposit and sharing to teaching data literacy. Some of what you might see me doing includes:

  • Consulting with students, faculty, and researchers about anything related to GIS or data
  • Assisting with course design for courses involving GIS or data
  • Teaching workshops about data science, RDM, GIS, and more
  • Adding data to Brock’s Dataverse, or facilitating the addition of data to other data repositories such as ICPSR
  • Facilitating access to local, provincial, and federal data through programs such as the Data Liberation Initiative
  • Collaborating with members of the university community to develop RDM strategies in alignment with Tri-Agency research requirements

During the 2021-22 term, I also served as the Faculty Chair for the President’s Advisory Committee on Human Rights, Equity, and Decolonization (PACHRED) 2S&LGBTQ+ Working Group, which works to enhance the lives of 2S&LGBTQ+ members of the Brock community.

From January 2022 until May 2022, I served as the Acting Head of the Digital Scholarship Lab and Map, Data & GIS Library.
