Gail Neff

Gail Neff, Chemistry support

I provide Chemistry support in our Drop-In Centre, work with our student staff, and collaborate with Brock’s Science Faculty to organize engagement programming in the sciences, like Scientifically Yours. I’ve been at Brock since 1970 and held Chemistry Senior Lab Demonstrator and Chemistry Course Coordinator positions.

My interests include spending time with my family (including 8 grandchildren), playing tennis(!), tutoring chemistry, as well as supporting women in their pursuit to attain postsecondary education. I am currently the Vice President of the Canadian Federation of University Women.

Henry Gerbrandt, Diplom-Volkswirt, B.Ec. Cand., Program Systems Coordinator

I oversee the data collection from our services and provide summaries and analyses on service participation.  I also coordinate the administration and clerical duties for a variety of our programs.

My passions include working with both spreadsheets and with students, bringing out the best in all of them. (“Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.” Albert Einstein)

Laura Lane, Hons. B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed., Ph.D.,  eLearning Specialist

As the eLearning Skills Specialist, I develop online versions of academic skills workshops and resources to address the needs of all Brock students and to extend our services to distance learning students.

My interests include supporting critical reading, facilitating positive learning communities, and exploring innovative approaches to education. (“One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.”― Malala Yousafzai)

Maggie Whitfield, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed., OCT., Curriculum Development Specialist

I am the lead developer for Learning Services instructional programming.

I’m always eager to accept new challenges, whether they are social, physical or intellectual. What I love most about my job is the opportunity to help students increase their confidence and explore their own potential. We are all so much more than we can ever imagine. (“We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.” — Ernest Hemingway)

Monica Drenth, Hons. B.A., Learning Specialist

I provide study skills support designed to enhance academic performance for students in all disciplines.

My interests include writing, grammar (yes, REALLY!), and student engagement. (”No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” – Charles Dickens)

Philipp Lesmana, B.Sc., Hons. B.B.A., M.B.A., Interactive Media Coordinator

I provide technical support to A-Z Learning Services day-to-day programming and outreach programs.

My interests include learning, learning and learning. (“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” – Henry Ford)

Sarah Miller, Hons. B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed Candidate, Learning Specialist

I provide study skills support designed to enhance academic performance for students in all disciplines.

My interests include working with students to improve their research and methodology skills, helping English language learning students strengthen their academic writing, and supporting student wellness through positive motivation techniques. I also love learning everything I can about weird science, especially via podcast. (“I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me…where the fear has gone there will be nothing . Only I will remain.” – Frank Herbert)

Soumya Moonjely, B.Sc, M.A Bioethics, M.Sc Biotechnology, Ph.D Biotechnology, Learning Skills Specialist

I provide study skills support designed to enhance academic performance for students in all disciplines.

My interests include research (microbiology) and helping students to improve their learning process. I also enjoy helping students in the biological sciences program to develop their technical and research skills.
