Maggie Whitfield, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed., OCT., Manager A-Z Learning Services

I lead a dynamic team who are passionate about student success. Our team provides opportunities for students to build academic skills, increase self-awareness, and muster the courage to follow their own passions.

The university experience is one of challenge, growth, and transformation and I LOVE being a part of this journey. We are all so much more than we can ever imagine. (“We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.” — Ernest Hemingway)

Gail Neff

Gail Neff, Chemistry support

I provide Chemistry support in our Drop-In Centre, work with our student staff, and collaborate with Brock’s Science Faculty to organize engagement programming in the sciences, like Scientifically Yours. I’ve been at Brock since 1970 and held Chemistry Senior Lab Demonstrator and Chemistry Course Coordinator positions.

My interests include spending time with my family (including 8 grandchildren), playing tennis(!), tutoring chemistry, as well as supporting women in their pursuit to attain postsecondary education. I am currently the Vice President of the Canadian Federation of University Women.

Henry Gerbrandt, Diplom-Volkswirt, B.Ec. Cand., Program Systems Coordinator

I oversee the data collection from our services and provide summaries and analyses on service participation.  I also coordinate the administration and clerical duties for a variety of our programs.

My passions include working with both spreadsheets and with students, bringing out the best in all of them. (“Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.” Albert Einstein)

Philipp Lesmana, B.Sc., Hons. B.B.A., M.B.A., Interactive Media Coordinator

I provide technical support to A-Z Learning Services day-to-day programming and outreach programs.

Sara Kiley Hons. B.PhE, B.Ed, OCT, HRM, Curriculum Development Learning Skills Specialist

I develop in-person and on-line academic skills workshops and resources to enhance academic performance for students in all disciplines.

I have a passion for cultivating positive transitions, excellent learning practices, and student confidence. When working with students, I enjoy helping them to recognize their strengths and identify strategies that will work for them as individuals. As I have worked with both secondary and post-secondary students, I understand the importance of easing the transition to university life and helping students make the most of our services and all that Brock University offers. On a personal note, I am a proud Brock alumnus and love the great outdoors.
