RESEARCH PROJECTS

The Brock Learning Lab has held a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Partnership Engage Grant titled, “Building Knowledge of Pre-Adolescents’ Critical Media Literacy through Collaborative Parent Training.” This grant provided parent education in topics such as digital resources, critical analysis of texts, social media, advertising messages, and internet safety. Through a partnership with Nelson Publishing, parents accessed a digitally curated repository of curriculum resources using Chromebooks. For more information contact the Brock Learning Lab Director, Tiffany Gallagher, tgallagher@brocku.ca.

COLLABORATIONS

The Brock Learning Lab has had collaborative partnerships with educational software and publishing companies for our tutors to use various digital learning resources. Tutors have access to curriculum-linked resources, interactive tools, and curated collections of texts to use during their sessions with learners.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING RESOURCES

The Brock Learning Lab staff and Director have recently completed a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Grant and published a website of curated resources for teachers, coaches, and consultants. See the Supporting Coaches Project Website: https://brocku.ca/supporting-coaches/
