The Global Scholars Office provides Brock faculty and students with opportunities for international mobility and research funding around the world to support the growing internationalization of Brock’s community.

Below are new, time-sensitive opportunities currently available to Brock Faculty and/or students.

Faculty Mobility Program for Canadians - ELAP

The Faculty Mobility Program provides Canadian faculty with short-term opportunities to teach or conduct research in Latin Americas and the Caribbean, at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.

Recipients must be full-time faculty from Canadian institutions
Maximum value up to CAD 7,000
Duration: 3-8 weeks
Deadline: October 18, 2018

Scholarships for Canadian and Irish students, professors and researchers

The governments of Canada and Ireland are offering scholarships for short-term visits to conduct research (4-6 weeks) or to teach as a visiting professor (up to 12 weeks) at a Canadian or Irish university. Travel expenses and a weekly stipend will be provided.

Research in Germany Info Session with DAAD

Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) was on campus to deliver an info session on funding for faculty and postdocs.

They presented an overview of the German research landscape, its major players along with funding programs to support research activities in Germany and / or with German partners.

The information presented was particularly relevant to faculty and postdocs regardless of field. Please contact globalscholars@brocku.ca for the brochure and slides presented at the session.

AWB Volunteer Opportunity in Kenya

Academics Without Borders is partnering with Aga Khan University School of Media and Communications on a project to assist in the development of an implementation plan and timeline to transition the MA in Digital Journalism to a fully blended/electronic format and, to this end, to assist in a review of the current curriculum and advise on its content. AWB is looking for two volunteers – Instructional Designer & Multimedia Resource Designer.

Join our CONAHEC Café

As a member of CONAHEC, you are part of a community looking to connect and share knowledge and form new relationships. We wanted to ensure you have an easy and effective way of connecting, which is why we’re excited about the opportunity to provide you with monthly introductions through the CONAHEC Café – powered by Ten Thousand Coffees. The Cafe will allow you to choose your interests and areas of expertise and will automatically match you to others within to the community to meet up for casual coffee chats, in-person or online. You will also have the opportunity to host and attend small group conversations about the topics you care about.

Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Advanced Scholarship Opportunity

Up to $20,000 per interested intern can be provided in the form of a Queen Elizabeth Advanced Scholarship toward travel, research and living expenses in Ecuador to work with Brock University’s partner institution, ESPOCH (Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo) and the ENGO Ekorural, a member of the Groundswell International partnership. Project possibilities include describing a food shed, organizing a marketing approach to community supported agriculture, or studying agroecosystems of a range of biological diversity in the Andes, Coastal or the Amazon tropical ecosystems. The project is also in partnership with Lakehead University.

Up to three internship positions are available for a minimum 90-day stay in Ecuador. Research assistants must be Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada and must be affiliated with Brock University (including alumni). The project is looking for scholars who are current PhD students, postdoctoral fellows or any early-career researcher with 4-7 years of experience in managing research projects. New Volunteer Opportunity - TVET Advisor - Jordan

WUSC and its consortium partner, Canadian Leaders in International Consulting (CLIC), are implementing the Women’s Economic Linkages and Employment Development (WE LEAD) project in Jordan.

WE LEAD is currently recruiting a TVET Advisor to will work closely with local TVET sector stakeholders, private sector, and training institutions to strengthen the development and delivery of gender-responsive, market-oriented training that can lead to employment opportunities and higher incomes for women and youth in Jordan.

Mitacs Globalink Research Award

Mitacs is accepting applications for competitive international research opportunities for the Globalink Research Award.

The award provides $6,000 for senior undergraduate and graduate students to undertake research projects abroad. Projects last 12–24 weeks and all disciplines are eligible.
