Funding Opportunities

The Global Scholars Office provides Brock faculty and students with opportunities for international mobility and research funding around the world to support the growing internationalization of Brock’s community.

Below are opportunities currently available to Brock Faculty and/or students.

Academics Without Borders

Academics Without Borders’ mission is to help developing countries improve their universities so that they can train their own experts and conduct research to assist in their countries’ development. Academics Without Borders’ projects are involved in the full range of university activities from expanding and improving existing institutions and programs to helping create new ones.

The Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC) is a not-for-profit membership-based network, with approximately 180 institutional members of higher education in Canada, the United States and Mexico, as well as a select group of institutions from other parts of the world.

CONAHEC seeks to advance the consolidation of the North American higher education community and its relationship with international partners by promoting collaboration and cooperation among its members.

DAAD is the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. Since its founding in 1925, DAAD has provided funding to more than 1.9 million scholars in Germany and abroad. DAAD is a registered association whose members are German institutions of higher education and student bodies.

DAAD Information Centre Toronto has provided informational slides on the German Research Landscape and a variety of opportunities available for any researcher to apply.

The Ontario-Jiangsu Industrial Research and Development Program (OJIRDP) will support joint industrial R&D projects focusing on the development of products or processes that may lead to commercialization in global markets.  Applicants can apply for up to $150,000 in funding (inclusive of 20% overhead for academic applicants) for joint bilateral R&D projects with terms not exceeding three years, involving at least one Jiangsu company and one Ontario organization (company and/or publicly-funded post-secondary institution).

Global Affairs Canada

Global Affairs Canada is responsible for the Government of Canada’s participation in major International Scholarship Programs. Global Affairs Canada provides support to international scholars in Canada, which is often reciprocated by foreign governments which support Canadian scholars in their countries.

Horizon 2020

Horizon 2020 is the European Commission’s funding programme for research and innovation running from 2014 to 2020. Canadian based researchers are eligible to be involved in Horizon 2020 programmes, however their participation is usually on a non-funded basis (unless it can be justified that your involvement is critical to the success of the project).
