The Department aims to provide students with a thorough and comprehensive coverage of spoken and written French, its literature and culture. In addition to the courses taught in French, the Department offers a series of courses taught in English (designated MLLC) that may be acceptable for credit toward a degree in French.
Programs include the BA Honours degree (single or combined major), the BA Pass degree (single or combined major), the Minor in French, and the Certificate in Business French and Translation. Single major degrees concentrate on French studies, while combined major degrees allow the combination of a French major with a major in another discipline. The Minor is especially attractive for students in other disciplines who take a number of French courses outside their major programs.
