Combined major and a second discipline

Students may take a combined major in Hispanic and Latin American Studies and a second discipline. Students fulfill the requirements for the Spanish Language combined major with another program of study by successfully completing core courses For requirements in the other discipline, the student should consult the relevant department/centre.

Combined minor and a second discipline

Students fulfill the requirements for the Spanish language minor by successfully completing five core courses

Certificates

Certificates of Spanish language and culture proficiency designed for native and non/native students in preparation for various professional endeavours. The certificate requires 5 credits in two major competency (language & culture) categories).

CERTIFICATE IN SPANISH PROFICIENCY FOR NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS

This certificate is designed for non-native Spanish students seeking Spanish language proficiency in preparation for various professional endeavours. For all students this certificate represents a specialized language knowledge of Spanish. A total grade of 70 per cent in certificate courses is required for the granting of the certificate. Exclusion: Not open to Spanish native speakers. Requirements: 5.0 credits from the following: – SPAN 1F00 – SPAN 1F90 – SPAN 2P19 and 2P20 – SPAN 3P84 – SPAN 3P92 and 3P93 – SPAN 3P98 or SPAN 4P01

This certificate is designed for native-speaking Spanish students seeking language proficiency in preparation for various professional endeavours.
