    Do you have an English essay that deserves a place in the sun? Are you a creative writer looking for a place to submit your work? Or, are you an upper year English major who has contributed to extracurricular activities? The Department of English is accepting applications until Monday, May 6, 2024, for the following Prizes:

    • The Helen S. Bremner and the Bremner Family Memorial Scholarship in English
    • The First-year English Essay Prize
    • The Michael Hornyansky Prize
    • The Carole LaMothe English Essay Prize

  • English Students’ Association Membership Meeting

    “With the end of the term fast approaching, the English Students’ Association is looking for passionate students in English and all related departments to participate in a meeting to plan for the next school year and what we want it to look like.

    Two of our executives will be graduating this spring, so if you’ve ever wanted to shape the future for English students or you’ve ever thought, “I wish there was an event like X,” this is the perfect opportunity for you!

    We will be accepting members for several roles, including President, Vice President, Social Media Coordinator, Event Planning, running Essay Workshops and more. These roles are open to any undergraduate student affiliated with the English department (this can include double majors, concurrent education, etc.). If you’re interested in any role and cannot attend, please contact us via email (brocku.esa@gmail.com) or through our Instagram page (brock_esa), and we will ensure your voice is heard.   • Fall 2023 OGS and SSHRC Workshop

    Are you a 4th-year Humanities student who is interested in applying of a Master’s program or an MA student interested in applying to a PhD program?

    The Department of English Language and Literature is holding a workshop on grant applications for Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funding agencies.

    Learn the steps involved in writing and submitting effective applications that will increase your chances of obtaining external funding for graduate studies in the Humanities.

    Join Professor Mathew Martin from the Department of English Language and Literature and Research Awards & Scholarships Specialists Tessa Mazachowsky and Emily Huneault from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs for this important writing workshop.
