CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
The Canadian Studies Program and American Studies Program at Bridgewater State University jointly invite paper proposals from undergraduate university students in the United States and Canada for an international interdisciplinary research conference on the subject “United States, Canada, Quebec and the Problem of the Border” to be held on Friday, March 20, 2020. All subjects will be considered, but papers that focus on these themes – 1) Real and Imaginary Borders; 2) Immigration; 3) Border Security; 4) Trade and Economy; 5) Indigenous Rights and Reconciliation; 6) Environment and Ecology – are especially welcome. Presentations can focus individually on the U.S., Canada, or Quebec; or present a comparison. Panels will consist of three 15/20-minute papers.

The deadline for proposals is Friday, January 31, 2020. Acceptance notifications will be made via email by Friday, February 7, 2020. Students should email title, abstract (250-word Word file attachments), name, and university affiliation to Dr. Andrew Holman, Director, BSU Canadian Studies at a2holman@bridgew.edu or Dr. Simone Poliandri, Coordinator, BSU American Studies at spoliandri@bridgew.edu

TRAVEL SUPPORT:
BSU Canadian Studies and American Studies will provide student presenters travelling from outside southeastern Massachusetts with up to two (2) nights’ hotel accommodation (MarBridgewater State Undergraduate Research Symposium CS-AMST Mar 2020 ch 19, 20). Lunch and supper will be provided for all participants on March 20. All other travel expenses must be covered by the presenters or their home institutions.
