Meet the SJC Team!

Meet Rabia Choudhary (She/They) – Student Justice Education Coordinator

Rabia Choudhary is a queer, disabled, Pakistani, Muslim immigrant and artist with a passion for social justice, equity, gender and sexual violence education and prevention, disability justice and activism. She is devoted to decolonization, anti-racism and QTBIPOC equity within community spaces and academia. They have over four (4) years of experience working and volunteering in queer and racialized communities, as an educator, facilitator, and peer support person. 

Rabia is a recent graduate of Brock University, and is currently working to complete her Masters in Social Justice and Equity Studies (SJES) at Brock as well. They were previously the Student Executive Co-Chair of the President’s Advisory Committee on Human Rights, Equity & Decolonization (PACHRED), and are currently the co-chair of the Sexual Violence Prevention Committee (SVPC). Outside of their many roles, you can find Rabia painting in her studio, or learning a new artistic skill to add to her arsenal.

Meet Ayena Ahad (She/Her) – Social Justice Advocacy Assistant

Ayena is the Student Justice Generalist Advocacy Assistant who will be joining our team this year. Ayena hopes to work alongside our team to create an inclusive and welcoming campus for all students at Brock. She wants to execute events, workshops and programs to ensure a transformative year that showcases support, advocacy, compassion and new opportunities for all. Ayena is not a big foodie, but she loves Biryani! Ayena has also recently started going back to the gym and hopes to stay consistent!

Meet Ayesha masood (She/Her) – Social Justice Advocacy Assistant

Ayesha will be returning for her second year at the Student Justice Centre as a Student Justice Advocacy Peer Assistant in the area of Social Justice (Generalist) Advocacy. She is looking forward to continuing to assist students in-person and virtually whether it is through BIPOC drop-in hours, workshops, social media, or in the community! Her favourite food is spicy noodles, and she likes to read with a warm cup of tea!

Meet Aliya Aragon (She/Her) – Anti-Racism Advocacy Assistant

Aliya is an Anti-Racism Advocacy Peer Assistant here at the Student Justice Centre. Aliya aims to keep expanding the safe space that SJC has created and continue to educate students and the greater community on anti-racism, anti-oppression, and social equity for marginalized groups. She is committed to amplifying racialized voices and supporting POC students through opportunities, initiatives, and advocacy. Her favourite food is sashimi and in her free time you’ll probably find her drawing or watching a good psychological thriller.

Meet Utkarsh Sood (He/Him) – Anti-Racism Advocacy Assistant

Hey Badgers! Meet Utkarsh Sood, he’s in his 4th year of Brock’s Medical Sciences program. Utkarsh has always had a passion for Advocacy and Human Rights and this year he wanted to help foster an inclusive environment here at Brock by working with our Anti-Racism Advocacy Team. During this time, he will aid in creating awareness campaigns and initiatives that will form a dialogue surrounding various issues that are a concern to us and the student body. One of his main goals within the group is to help create equal opportunity hiring practices at the university. In his time off he is an avid foodie and likes to keep up with Netflix’s never-ending list of movies! If you see him around don’t hesitate to say hi!

Meet Tolu Pereira-Sheteolu (She/Her) – Accessibility and Disability Justice Assistant

Hello! This is Tolu and she is the Accessibility and Disability Justice Assistant for the SJC. Her position involves advocating, aid and supporting disabled students at Brock. She hopes that in her position she’s able to help students at Brock have easier access to Mental Health resources. Her favorite food is salmon, and She enjoys listening to podcasts and playing strategy video games.

Meet Sydney Sloane (She/Her) – Accessibility and Disability Justice Assistant

Sydney is beyond excited to be your SJC Disability Justice Peer Assistant this year! She is a recent Honours Physical Education graduate currently pursuing her Certificate in Public Policy & Administration here at Brock. She looks forward to continuing to fight for improved accessibility across campus and hopes to help other disabled students find support systems and community. Her current cravings are fruit salad and pulled pork poutine. In her spare time, you can find her trying new restaurants with friends or de-stressing with Netflix.

Meet Ishraq Malik (She/Her) – Feminist Advocacy Assistant

Ishraq is going into her third year of Brock’s Medical Science program and is so excited to begin her role at the SJC. Her position of Feminist Advocacy will highlight issues around gender equity affecting women, but her advocacy is not limited as she supports all of the SJC initiatives. She hopes to achieve a sense of community within Brock and get educated along with educating people on topics that are so important. Her favorite food has to be authentic Lahori fish and in her free time, she loves to chill with friends and go on long road trips.

Meet Anmol Rughani (They/Them) – International Student Advocacy Assistant

Anmol is the International Student Advocacy Assistant for the Student Justice Centre. This year Anmol hopes to curate a safe space for all International Students. They want to ensure that all QTBIPOC individuals feel welcome and secure in the Brock community. Outside of their role, you’ll find them making digital art and saving up for all you can eat sushi.
