Graduate Student Testimonials
‘I really enjoyed the lack of distractions, it kept me focused and on task.’
‘I got a lot of work done that day and would recommend it to many. Not only was the workshop beneficial for the time that I was there, but the resources provided on the USB extended the writing support of the retreat to far beyond a single day. Thank you.’
‘Face to face with facilitator got me excited and motivated! Day well spent.’
‘Thank you very much for arranging this day for graduate students! Grad studies can certainly be a lonely pursuit. It is nice to be reminded that there are other people working through the struggles too. Thank you as well for providing lunch and for offering the retreat in a beautiful outdoor setting.’
What were your most valuable take-aways from the day?
‘I don’t have to be alone in my writing. I have no support for my academic writing. Take advantage of the resources available through Brock.’
‘Plans are worthless; Planning is invaluable. Community is important. Always ask somebody else to proofread your work.’
‘1.Writing takes courage 2. Make sure you are receiving high quality feedback 3. Academic writing doesn’t have to be impossible.’
The retreat is located in downtown St. Catharines at the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. Beautiful art galleries and creative spaces will be the backdrop for a day of productive writing.
