Are you a new entrepreneur? Do you have an idea that would make a great business? Are you looking for help taking your business idea to the next level?
The Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship program targets Niagara’s entrepreneurs and encourages them to explore their innovative ideas and advance their early-stage entrepreneurial aspirations. The program provides up to 35 youth with two intensive training weekends, monthly seminars and events, plus mentorship and advisory services from Venture Development.
The Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship program is a program at Goodman Group – Venture Development at Brock University that is designed to help young entrepreneurs, explore their business ideas and advance their early stage entrepreneurial aspirations. The Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship program provides youth with free access to the following:
- Two multi-day entrepreneurial “boot camp” training sessions
- Connections to the right resources
- A monthly training event or seminar to develop your skills and knowledge about entrepreneurship
- Mentorship and advisory services
- Meet and network with other entrepreneurs
The Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship program will leverage the expertise, programs and services at Brock University and within Niagara’s entrepreneurial ecosystem to provide aspiring youth entrepreneurs with these activities, training and resources that will help them experience entrepreneurship. Youth that are a part of this program will also have regular meetings with staff from Venture Development to work on their plan of action and determine the next steps they need to take for their business to grow.

The Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship program is part of the On-Campus Entrepreneurship Activities (OCEA) program that is an initiative of the Government of Ontario under the Youth Jobs Strategy and is being managed by Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE). This program is a partnership between Brock University and Innovate Niagara and other project partners include: Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, St. Catharines Enterprise Centre, Niagara Falls Small Business Enterprise Centre, Veture Niagara, South Niagara Community Futures Development Corporation, Niagara Angel Network and United Way of St. Catharines and District. Support provided by the Government of Ontario’s OCEA program helps to assist Venture Development to launch Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship, a hands-on entrepreneurship training program for Niagara youth.

Please note the Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship Program will run from October 2019 – April 2020. 1-2 seminars, training workshop or events will be planned per month. Attendance at events, seminars and meetings will be mandatory to successfully complete the program.
