Organization: CNIB Lake Joe
Role: Currently hiring counsellors, lifeguards, program heads and program coordinators
Details: We are an accessible camp in Muskoka that provide overnight camping experiences for adults and youth who are blind or partially sighted. We do most typical summer camp activities, but adapt them to ensure they are accessible for everyone at camp. We are currently hiring many positions.

Organization: The Learning Disabilities Association of York Region.
Role: Tutor for specialized math and literacy tutoring program(s).
Details: Open to all education students or recent graduates graduates with some experience teaching or tutoring as an asset. We will be offering these programs online. Programs will run for 8 weeks twice a week, and the start date is as soon as possible. We are currently offering $17-$19 hourly depending on experience. Orientation and training details will be provided upon hiring.

Details: This is a paid role. Subjects requiring support are Math and English. Two nights a week. 1.5 – 2 hours in the Welland/Fonhill area.

Event: Critical Literacy Symposium: Let’s Open Our Critical Literacy Spaces and Adopt a Culturally Responsive Mindset!
Details: March 2, 4 PM Virtual. Integrating culturally responsive texts centres students and lets them know that their interests, experiences and identities matter. At the core of culturally responsive practice is engaging in critical literacy skills that enable students to understand, appreciate, and evaluate what they read and view as they reflect on critical questions. This session will focus on being equity-minded as a literacy practitioner and adopting a culturally responsive mindset. Speaker: Maria Luisa Lebar.

Event: Coding, Computational Modelling, & Equity in Mathematics Education – April 27-29
Details: Recently, computational thinking [CT] – in the form of coding and computational modeling – has received increased emphasis via practice and public policy in mathematics education settings, including being formally integrated in mathematics curricula (e.g., in Ontario, Finland, Sweden, Australia, France, …) and supported by international organizations (e.g., PISA’s decision to assess mathematical literacy as involving elements of CT starting in 2022).
