Welcome to the Faculty of Education.
We are thrilled to welcome our new and returning teacher candidates in our consecutive education and concurrent education programs, our masters and doctorate candidates, and those enrolled in our innovative early childhood education, adult education and, through the Tecumseh Centre for Research and Education, aboriginal education programs.
Brock’s Faculty of Education fosters a respectful and inclusive environment where students, faculty, staff and alumni share a passionate commitment to learning, scholarship, and service.
We deliver the highest quality of education and work diligently to provide our undergraduate and graduate students with the programs and platforms necessary to succeed in whichever career pathway they choose. In an effort to ensure an accessible, collaborative, respectful and inspirational learning environment, we offer programs at our two campuses (St. Catharines and Hamilton), various sites throughout Ontario, and online.
Our programs and faculty members have garnered provincial, national, and international attention as a premier Faculty of Education.
Our commitment to engaged and enhanced learning allows us to be a leader in today’s 21st century classrooms; educating teachers with the latest educational technologies and moving from dusty chalkboards to smartboards, scribblers to iPads, and incorporating a wide range of digital literacies.
Our faculty members are acknowledged leaders in their scholarly fields nationally and internationally. Their research explores fundamental aspects of human development and social, political and economic foundations of learning and teaching as well as contributing to and improving the day-to-day lives of children in the classroom and the practice of teachers and leaders in schools and community-based organizations, amongst others.
I am pleased, as the new Dean of the Faculty, to welcome you as a student, alumni, faculty member, staff, or visitor and invite you to share in our educational journey of discovery, innovation, and scholarship.
Michael Owen, Ph.D.
Dean and Professor
