Culinary and Dietary Support

Food is an important part of life on campus.  Our Dining Services team is focused on providing healthy food choices across campus to help fuel your student lifestyle.

Discovering and choosing the right foods can propel you forward, help you succeed and keep you healthy, but for many of us, eating healthy is hard to do. It takes planning and time as well as the creativity and courage to listen to new ideas, try new foods and explore an openness to new flavours.

Our culinary team consists of on-site Red Seal Chefs who know how challenging eating healthy can be as well as the fact that discovering healthy food can be fun, empowering and rewarding. The team is here to help you discover what healthy food can do for you and to help you enjoy all the positive things that can happen when you start ‘feeding your potential’.

Our Dining Services team has a Registered Dietitian on staff to ensure we have a balanced approach to healthy dining on campus.

If you adhere to a specific diet, we can also work together to create a plan to meet those needs. If you would like more information on how we can accommodate your dietary needs on campus, please contact: Registered Dietitian Rebecca Delduco, delduco-rebecca@aramark.ca and Executive Chef Nick Paulino, paulino-nicholas@aramark.ca.

The DeCew Fresh Food Company dining hall also has a no-gluten room. The no-gluten room is accessible only to those with gluten allergies or Celiac Disease, to avoid cross contamination and to create a safe space for students navigating such dietary concerns on campus. If you require access into this room, please contact the onsite Registered Dietitian for an assessment. The Lowenberger Fresh Food Company also has a no-gluten section in the main dining hall, which provides no gluten options for those with less severe gluten intolerances.

An All-Access meal plan is designed to accommodate any student lifestyle with an array of healthy choices, as well as some traditional, heartier menu offerings to appeal to all audiences. Our meal plans offer the ultimate convenience on campus with two dining halls, operating seven days a week, from early morning to late night.

These locations provide students with the ability to visit for a quick coffee break or to sit down and enjoy a full meal with unlimited access either five or seven days a week.  Whether you’re a light or a hearty eater we offer a variety of stations throughout the day such as grill, entrée, international eats, deli and soup, salad, bakery and beverages.  Our plans are designed to enjoy as much or as little as you want all day every day. However, it is important that all students have a balanced plate, and our culinary team and Registered Dietitian are here to offer on-site support.

Yes, both dining halls will be open for early morning as well as late night to accommodate most schedules.   While hours are subject to change (for example, during Reading Week where hours may be reduced), the dining halls are open:

Monday – Thursday
7:30 am – 1 am

Friday
7:30 am – 11 pm

Saturday and Sunday
8:30 am – 10 pm

If you do require meal accommodations based on your schedule, our team will with you one-on-one to ensure meals are accommodated, if required.

Our culinary team manages the production of food based on the demand for the location to ensure we produce only what we are going to serve each day. As the Fresh Food Company is a dine-in, no take-out program, all food waste is logged and tracked to ensure we minimize food waste each and every day. Production waste, such as eggshells and fruit and vegetable peels, for example, are composted. To minimize post-consumer waste, we encourage guests to take only what they are going to consume, as they can enjoy multiple servings and try a variety of menu items at each visit.
