Specifically, CHYDS is always looking to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the sport sector, including community organizations, students, faculty/researchers, and funders. Students

Students, do you want to get involved with the Centre for Healthy Youth Development through Sport? To explore opportunities to volunteer please get in touch with us over email (chyds@brocku.ca) to explore ongoing opportunities.

  • Prospective Students
    • Graduate Students
      • If you’re an interested Master’s or Doctoral student (starting within the next 12 months), we encourage you to get involved with CHYDS. Our research focuses on youth sport, including positive youth development, mental health, gender, coaching, physical literacy, and much more.
      • If you are a Doctoral student interested in doing the community-engaged comprehensive exam option that exists within certain faculties at Brock, please get in touch. One of our many community partners would be keen to work with a graduate student on a collaborative project.
    • Undergraduate Students
      • Experiential Education Opportunities: The Centre will provide interested undergraduate students with an opportunity to learn about and contribute to youth development through sport by engaging in active and experiential learning opportunities.   • KINE 4P99: Advanced Topics in Physical Education and Kinesiology
  • Honours Thesis and Internships
    • RECL 4F25: Internship in Community Recreation
    • RECL 4F27: Individual Honours Thesis Research Project
    • KINE 4F91: Thesis/Project
    • KINE 4P88: Internship in Athlete Development

Such courses provide undergraduate students the opportunity to get involved in research within the Centre. If you are interested in gaining credit for research experience, please get in touch (chyds@brocku.ca). Prerequisite: Third-year standing.

  • Volunteers: we are currently accepting volunteer applications in CHYDS. We are looking for students with a passion for research. Student volunteers should have a strong academic background in youth sport. If you are interested in applying, please get in touch (chyds@brocku.ca) with your resumé and transcripts (unofficial transcripts will be accepted).
  • High School Students: The Brock University Science Mentorship Program is a unique program that links senior secondary school students to Brock mentors from various disciplines including Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Health Sciences, Neuroscience and Physics.
