National Co-op & Work Integrated Learning Month 2020

What is National Co-op & Work Integrated Learning Month?

Each year, CEWIL Canada (Co-operative Education and Work Integrated Learning) celebrates the successes and promotes awareness of co-op and work-integrated learning programs across Canada. As a member institution, Brock University’s Co-op, Career and Experiential Education (CCEE) unit participates in this annual event to help promote the successes of our students, partnerships and programs.

For the first time, this celebration and awareness campaign is extending from a week to a full month. Throughout the month of March, Brock University’s Co-op, Career & Experiential Education team has planned a number of exciting events, contests and social media campaigns to drive awareness of Brock’s Co-op and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programs and initiatives.

How to get involved?

Help us spread the word about your experiences with Brock’s co-op and work integrated learning programs and initiatives throughout the month by using the hashtags #ExperienceMore and #WILPower on Twitter and Instagram.

What is #ExperienceMore?

Throughout the month of March, we invite students, faculty, and employer and community partners to learn about, reflect on and engage in activities that go beyond the classroom, that encourage students to explore new possibilities as they prepare for their life beyond university.  As our school motto says – Surgite!  Push on, try new things and say yes to new opportunities.

What does #ExperienceMore look like?

Below is a short list of ways to #Experience.More.  Be sure to connect with the Co-op, Career & Experiential Education team to discuss even more possibilities:

Students:

  • Volunteer
  • Participate in a student club
  • Attend a networking event
  • Take an interest course
  • Take on a leadership role
  • Look for part time work on campus
  • Visit CareerZone
  • Investigate the possibility of entering a co-op program
  • Exploring experiential learning in the classroom
  • Attend a workshop
  • Reflect on your experiences to date

Employer & Community Partners:

  • Connect with the CCEE team to learn how our unit can work together to suite your needs
  • Attend networking and/or recruiting events with Brock students
  • Hire a co-op student for a work placement
  • Talk with our Experiential Education department about possible in-course projects for students
  • Post jobs and volunteer opportunities on CareerZone
