SPORT MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIPS

The Sport Management Internship courses provide the opportunity for fourth-year Bachelor of Sport Management students to gain valuable practical work experience. The internships are a combination of hands-on experience in an organization relevant to the student’s individual career interests, paired with the development and completion of an academic project relevant to the themes presented within the internship organization. Students are required to complete a minimum of 450 hours within the internship organization in any academic term that contributes to the student’s intellectual, professional, and personal development. Each internship  opportunity enhances a students knowledge and practical work skills, and provides them with the opportunity to learn from professionals in the field. Internship experiences can serve as a catalyst to evaluate career directions, provide excellent opportunities for networking, and provide students with substantive professional experience for as they prepare for the next step in their career.

The experience I acquired during my summer internship with the Canadian Olympic Committee at Rio 2016 will play an instrumental role in my future as a sport leader. It was incredible working behind the scenes to support the success of Team Canada
