Human Rights & Equity

The Human Rights and Equity (HRE) Office at Brock University serves all community members. Their work is twofold:

  1. Human Rights at Brock: adhering to the Ontario Human Rights Code, we address harassment and discrimination through the Respectful Work and Learning Environment Policy and the Sexual Violence Policy. We respond to disclosures and help resolve complaints of harassment, discrimination, and violence.
  2. Equity Services at Brock: We advocate for individuals and groups, provide educational workshops, offer identity-affirming programming, and guide the implementation of equitable practices.

Additionally, HRE focuses on the following program areas:

  • Our Human Rights and Equity Advisor offers support, advice, and consultations to individuals impacted by harassment, sexual violence, and/or discrimination
  • Our Accessibility Advisor offers events and workshops on anti-ableism and disability justice and advises on legislative requirements
  • Our Anti-Racism Advisor supports disclosures, coordinates events, programs and training on anti-racism and provides referrals.
  • Our EDI Education and Outreach Manager coordinates education, training, and professional learning opportunities available to the Brock Community.
  • The Gender & Sexual Violence Program provides confidential, non-judgmental, client-centred services, weekly drop-ins, educational programming, events, and referrals to combat gender-based and sexual violence.
  • The Student Justice Centre advocates for social justice through weekly drop-ins, campaigns, workshops, and events challenging various forms of discrimination.

Students experiencing any of the above concerns are encouraged to fill out a disclosure form or contact one of the HRE staff members. Please visit the Human Rights and Equity ExperienceBU page for upcoming workshops and events.
