An online event hosted by Brock\u2019s Department of Labour Studies will explore the past, present and future of labour internationalism and union influence on matters of foreign policy through the lens of Israel-Palestine.<\/p>\n
The free public webinar, \u201cWhat\u2019s labour got to do with Palestine? Unions and foreign policy,\u201d takes place Thursday, Feb. 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Guests speakers include Riya Al\u2019Sanah, a doctoral candidate at the University of Exeter and organizer with the Workers in Palestine initiative, and Jeff Schuhrke, Assistant Professor in the Harry Van Arsdale Jr. School of Labor Studies at SUNY Empire State University and author of Blue-Collar Empire: The Untold Story of U.S. Labor\u2019s Global Anticommunist Crusade<\/em>.<\/p>\n The event will explore solidarity between global union leaders and Palestinian trade unions through approaches such as the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, as well as pushback from critics who believe unions should focus on local wages and working conditions.<\/p>\n
