Faculty, staff and students who identify as First Nations, M\u00e9tis or Inuit are invited to apply to join the University\u2019s Indigenous Strategic Plan Advisory Committee (ISPAC).<\/p>\n
The committee will work collaboratively to inform the creation of Brock\u2019s Indigenous Strategic Plan.<\/p>\n
Robyn Bourgeois, Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement, said she has seen Brock\u2019s commitment to Indigenization, decolonization and reconciliation first-hand. The committee, she said, will serve to harness that passion by bringing key stakeholders from across the University together to enact meaningful change.<\/p>\n
\u201cDiversity is our strength, and bringing as many different voices and perspectives together around the table ensures that we create the strongest strategic plan possible that is representative of everyone\u2019s interests, needs and dreams for our collective future,\u201d she said. \u201cWe encourage everyone interested in being involved in the process to apply and welcome submissions from all backgrounds, experience levels and Indigenous identities.\u201d<\/p>\n
The committee is co-chaired by Bourgeois; Director of Indigenous Educational Studies Sheila Cote-Meek; and Director of the Hadiya\u2019dag\u00e9nhahs First Nations, M\u00e9tis and Inuit Student Centre Cindy Biancaniello.<\/p>\n
The Indigenous Strategic Plan, led by the Office of the Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement, follows Brock\u2019s recently launched institutional strategic plan<\/a>, which articulates the institutional purpose of transforming people and reimagining the future\u00a0through curiosity, creativity and courage. The two documents will work in tandem as a means to advance the University\u2019s key priorities.<\/p>\n The target date of completion of the Indigenous Strategic Plan is January 2026.<\/p>\n \u201cThe strategic plan acts as a guiding document that helps us to actualize our commitment to Indigenization, reconciliation and decolonization as guided by the perspectives of the Indigenous Peoples across campus,\u201d Bourgeois said. \u201cThe strategic plan is also meant to endure beyond those of us who work to bring it to fruition, ensuring that there is an overriding document to support everyone \u2014 Indigenous and non-Indigenous \u2014 in continuing this important work now and into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n Applications for the committee can be submitted on the Indigenous Strategic Plan website<\/a> and are due by Monday, Feb. 3.<\/p>\n Committee meetings are currently scheduled to run for two hours, once per month until June. The first meeting will be held in person, with subsequent formats determined at that meeting.<\/p>\n
