The Brock community came together this November to honour the courage and sacrifice of veterans during two significant days of remembrance.<\/p>\n

Rob Welch, a member of Brock\u2019s Board of Trustees, lays a wreath at the University’s cenotaph during a Remembrance Day ceremony held on campus Monday, Nov. 11.<\/p><\/div>\n

The University observed Indigenous Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 8, encouraging faculty, staff and students to reflect on the contributions of\u00a0First Nations, Inuit and M\u00e9tis Peoples to Canada\u2019s war and peacekeeping efforts.\u00a0The Hadiya\u2019dag\u00e9nhahs First Nations, M\u00e9tis and Inuit Student Centre<\/a> hosted a beaded poppy workshop<\/a> to mark the day.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Nov. 11, the University continued its reflection, paying tribute to the brave men and women who sacrificed for this country\u00a0during an in-person Remembrance Day ceremony in the Rankin Family Pavillion.<\/p>\n

Meaghan Rusnell, Interim Vice-President, External delivered opening remarks for the ceremony, which included the singing of\u00a0O Canada<\/em>, a trumpet performance of The Last Post<\/em>, the reading of the poem\u00a0In Flanders Fields<\/em>\u00a0and the placing of wreaths in front of the Brock cenotaph.\u00a0\u00a0A moment of silence was also held at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n
