Sustainability standards and transparency are becoming increasingly important in all industries, including the accounting sector.<\/p>\n

Samir Trabelsi, Professor of Accounting and Governance at the Goodman School of Business and a CPA Ontario Distinguished Scholar, will discuss how voluntary disclosure of environmental, social and governance (ESG) information impacts financial statement audit timelines at the next Goodman Luncheon Speaker Series event.<\/p>\n

Trabelsi\u2019s talk, The Effect of SASB Standards Adoption on Audit Report Lags: The Mediating Effect of ESG Controversies, takes place Friday, Nov. 1 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Sankey Chamber.<\/p>\n

His areas of expertise include corporate governance, sustainability and ESG issues. Earlier this year, he was recognized as one of 22 members of the<\/p>\n

Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business\u2019s (AACSB) 2024 Class of Influential Leaders<\/a>. Trabelsi has won numerous awards including the 2023-2024 Distinguished Scholar Award – Department of Accounting, the 2017 Brock University Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2021 Goodman Distinguished Scholar of the Year award.<\/p>\n

The Luncheon Speaker Series<\/a> is open to anyone and provides Goodman faculty, staff and students with an informal opportunity to discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with business colleagues.<\/p>\n

The event is also part of the 60 Research Talks at Brock series, which celebrates 60 years of impactful research at the University.<\/p>\n
