Tote Store<\/a>, in India two years ago with his partner, Mishita Rungta, developing hand-embroidered tote bags that are functional pieces of art. Each bag has its own personalized touch, with designs including a wide range of flowers, plants and insects.<\/p>\n\u201cMishita and I both have a shared love for creativity. We knew that we wanted to offer something handmade and meaningful, so tote bags were perfect,\u201d said Payeng.<\/p>\n
Payeng has already had to restock the inventory in the Campus Store several times since his bags were first placed on shelves in September, highlighting their positive reception.<\/p>\n
\u201cI never imagined that something that we worked on would get this platform,” he said. “Students love how customizable and unique the bags are. We\u2019ve received a lot of positive feedback, especially from students looking for something that is personalized and eco-friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stephanie Nobles, Associate Director, Campus Store and Printing Services, said The Tote Store\u2019s bags have been popular with the Brock community.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the moment they hit the shelves it was clear that customers appreciated the one-of-a-kind designs and hand-stitched artistry,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re pleased to provide visibility and promotional opportunities for The Tote Store and to support student entrepreneurs like Divit.\u201d<\/p>\n
As well as retail space and advertising support, contest winners like Payeng also receive mentorship from the Brock LINC to help navigate common business hurdles and gain industry knowledge.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are looking forward to seeing the success of a student entrepreneur selling their products to the Brock community,\u201d says Cassie Conte, Program Manager at the Brock LINC.<\/p>\n
