The Brock community is deeply saddened by the loss of Arslan Ahmad, a bright and aspiring law student in the Bachelor of Social Sciences program.<\/p>\n
An innocent bystander, Ahmad passed away following what police have described as a cowardly act of violence. The Brampton resident was caught in a crossfire in North York on Aug. 27 while visiting a friend. He would have turned 22 on Oct. 10.<\/p>\n
Ahmad was a beacon of kindness and warmth, with an outgoing personality that drew others to him, says his older brother Faizan Ahmad (BBA \u201924), a fellow Brock student who graduated with his Bachelor of Business Administration at the University’s 116th Convocation on Friday, Oct. 18.<\/p>\n
\u201cArslan was often seen smiling and laughing, spreading joy wherever he went and making everyone around him feel welcome and cherished,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Since enrolling in 2020, Ahmad built countless close friendships at Brock, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the wake of this tragedy, we share in the grief of Arslan\u2019s family, friends and everyone in the Brock community who had the pleasure of knowing him,\u201d\u00a0says Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Ingrid Makus.<\/p>\n
The Brock community has been affected by Ahmad’s passing, and groups such as Brock MSA have started initiatives in his honour, showcasing his character, friendships and close bonds to the community.<\/p>\n
