{"id":95079,"date":"2024-08-22T16:23:02","date_gmt":"2024-08-22T20:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=95079"},"modified":"2024-08-23T14:54:57","modified_gmt":"2024-08-23T18:54:57","slug":"edi-changemaker-recognized-for-dedication-to-gender-and-sexual-violence-advocacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2024\/08\/edi-changemaker-recognized-for-dedication-to-gender-and-sexual-violence-advocacy\/","title":{"rendered":"EDI Changemaker recognized for dedication to gender and sexual violence advocacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fourth-year sociology student Alia Cave understands how difficult it is to know where to turn after being impacted by gender or sexual-based violence.<\/p>\n<p>As a Gender and Sexual Violence Peer Support Assistant in Brock\u2019s Office of Human Rights and Equity (HRE), she works to ensure students know that they are believed, their voice matters and that there are resources available to support them on their path to recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Cave has been named as the EDI Changemaker of the Month for August in recognition of her work in the Peer 2 Peer program and her role in leading accessibility programming.
