Indigenous Peoples Awareness Week (IPAW) at Brock University wrapped up on June 20 with a celebration of Indigenous food, storytelling, dance and music.<\/p>\n
Organized by the Hadiya\u2019dag\u00e9nhahs First Nations, M\u00e9tis and Inuit Student Centre<\/a>, individuals and families from across Niagara and throughout Ontario took part in more than 20 different workshops, demonstrations and guest presentations from June 17 to 20.<\/p>\n Among the week\u2019s events were Inuit drum dancing and throat singing by the cultural performance group Siqiniup Qilauta, also known as SUNSDRUM, a deer hide rattle making workshop, and a sage plant and medicine talk by Department of Educational Studies Assistant Professor Sherri Vansickle.<\/p>\n Further information about future events as well as on-campus resources for Indigenous students and community members can be found on the Hadiya\u2019dag\u00e9nhahs Instagram<\/a> and Facebook<\/a> pages.<\/p>\n\n\t
