Ten Brock University faculty members have been awarded the new honorary title of Distinguished Professor, a lifetime appointment recognizing outstanding achievement in their academic discipline.<\/p>\n

The appointments are awarded by the Office of the President and will be recognized as part of Brock\u2019s 115th Convocation<\/a>, which takes place from Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14.<\/p>\n

Brock President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg says the designation aligns with the University\u2019s strategic priorities to promote a culture that recognizes and celebrates the significant impact that research, scholarship and creative activity have on a local, national and international level.<\/p>\n

\u201cI extend my sincerest congratulations to our esteemed and deserving colleagues on this designation,\u201d Riggs says. \u201cThese newly recognized professors from across our Faculties are representative of the unique character and values of our institution, and we are proud to celebrate and support their contributions to the enhancement of the life and vitality of our students, as well as to our local region and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recipients of the lifetime designation become Distinguished Professors Emeriti\/ae upon retirement.<\/p>\n

All Full Professors at Brock University who have demonstrated exceptional scholarly achievement in their field are eligible for the appointment.<\/p>\n

Nominations are supported by Brock University faculty and the nominee\u2019s corresponding Dean, as well as scholars of prominent standing in the nominee\u2019s field, from outside of the University.<\/p>\n

An open call for nominations<\/a> will be announced to the Brock community by the Senate Research and Scholarship Policy Committee (R&SPC) every fall.<\/p>\n
