{"id":93064,"date":"2024-05-27T15:08:15","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T19:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=93064"},"modified":"2024-05-27T15:21:04","modified_gmt":"2024-05-27T19:21:04","slug":"supports-available-to-help-brock-researchers-navigate-funders-new-security-requirements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2024\/05\/supports-available-to-help-brock-researchers-navigate-funders-new-security-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Supports available to help Brock researchers navigate funders\u2019 new security requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the federal government\u2019s policy on <a href=\"https:\/\/science.gc.ca\/site\/science\/en\/safeguarding-your-research\/guidelines-and-tools-implement-research-security\/sensitive-technology-research-and-affiliations-concern\/policy-sensitive-technology-research-and-affiliations-concern\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern<\/a> (STRAC) now in effect, Brock University is working to educate and support faculty members in navigating these new requirements.<\/p>\n<p>As of May 1, the STRAC policy \u2014 intended to further protect Canada\u2019s research, institutions and intellectual property \u2014 applies to all projects submitted for funding to federal agencies, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council as well as the Canada Foundation for Innovation. Guidelines pertaining to provincially funded research are also in development through the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.<\/p>\n<p>Safeguarding research is a top priority for Brock.
