{"id":9228,"date":"2011-04-06T08:36:18","date_gmt":"2011-04-06T13:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=9228"},"modified":"2011-04-06T08:41:36","modified_gmt":"2011-04-06T13:41:36","slug":"nicol-award-founder-impressed-by-brock-presentation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2011\/04\/nicol-award-founder-impressed-by-brock-presentation\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicol Award founder impressed by Brock presentation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_9229\" style=\"width: 346px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9229\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9229  \" title=\"Michael Churey and Mark Bittorf\" src=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/nicolteam2011.jpg\" alt=\"Michael Churey and Mark Bittorf\" width=\"336\" height=\"189\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9229\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Michael Churey and Mark Bittorf<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/brocku.ca\/business\" target=\"_blank\">Faculty of Business<\/a> students Mark Bittorf and Mike Churey failed to win top prize but garnered high praise at the 2011 <a href=\"http:\/\/nicol-award.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Nicol Entrepreneurial Award Competition<\/a> in Ottawa.<\/p>\n<p>Winners of the Brock Nicol Competition, Bittorf and Churey\u2019s \u201cConquer Climbing Centre\u201d impressed many of the judges with  their solid business plan as well as presentation skills.<\/p>\n<p>Wes Nicol, founder of the award, was particularly impressed by Bittorf and Churey\u2019s business idea and expressed great personal interest in their plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll in all, Brock was very well represented in the event,\u201d said faculty advisor Dominic Lim.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cConquer Climbing Centre\u201d aims to be the premier indoor rock climbing facility in the London, Ont. region. It will target older and somewhat more serious climbers.<\/p>\n<p>Brock was one of six finalists in this prestigious business plan competition. Their venture brought a first-round prize of $5,000.
