{"id":91690,"date":"2024-03-21T15:50:52","date_gmt":"2024-03-21T19:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=91690"},"modified":"2024-03-21T15:50:52","modified_gmt":"2024-03-21T19:50:52","slug":"public-brock-event-to-look-at-ais-impact-on-music-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2024\/03\/public-brock-event-to-look-at-ais-impact-on-music-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Brock event to look at AI\u2019s impact on music industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The music industry is no stranger to technological disruption \u2014 and artificial intelligence (AI) is behind the latest shock wave.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An online community event hosted by Brock University will examine AI\u2019s impact on both musicians and listeners.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Business Matters: Songs in the Key of ChatGPT will take place Wednesday, March 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The discussion will feature panellists who will delve into the current influence of AI on musicians and the industry, ethical issues associated with AI and what AI means in terms of song writing, deep fakes and more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hosted by Brock\u2019s Goodman School of Business, this is the ninth in a series of annual community discussions moderated by Associate Professor of Marketing Todd Green.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWith new AI tools seemingly emerging every day, the panel discussion is an opportunity to hear what it means for members of the music industry and to decide whether these tools will have a place in their own careers,\u201d said Green.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Panellists include:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Eric Alper, Owner, Eric Alper Public Relations<\/li>\n<li>Chelsea Masse, Market Research and Data Specialist, Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA)<\/li>\n<li>Noah Mintz, Senior Mastering Engineer, Lacquer Channel Mastering<\/li>\n<li>Kirsten Robertson, Associate Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources, School of Business, University of the Fraser Valley<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions following the panel discussion.
