Third-year English Literature and Visual Arts student Jo McLeish has a passion for making plush animals with embroidered details \u2014 a skill she perfected by accessing the Brock Library\u2019s Makerspace.<\/p>\n
McLeish, accompanied by her mother Susan MacDonald, was among 14 vendors who showcased their expertise and sold their creations as part of Brock\u2019s first-ever Makerfest hosted by the Makerspace on Thursday, March 14 in the Rankin Family Pavilion.<\/p>\n
The event, which celebrated innovation and community artists by highlighting new and digital technologies, welcomed more than 400 students, faculty, staff and community members.<\/p>\n
\u201cMakerfest was incredibly successful,\u201d says Makerspace Supervisor Derek Schneider. \u201cWe have received really positive feedback from everyone involved and are already looking at ways we can expand for next year.\u201d<\/p>\n
