A leading international scholar will discuss how young professionals, particularly new physicians, navigate situations where their professional values are severely and repeatedly compromised at the Goodman School of Business Luncheon Speaker Series on Friday, Feb. 9.<\/p>\n

April Wright, Professor of Organizational Studies at Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, will focus on environments with limited resources, unpacking the three most common responses to these situations \u2013 traumatized departure, peer-supported survival and pragmatic acceptance \u2013 and their consequences on the health-care system.<\/p>\n

Wright\u2019s research examines how institutions are maintained, changed and disrupted, with a direct focus in professional values, extreme contexts and management education.<\/p>\n

Her work has been published in leading international journals including Administrative Science Quarterly,\u00a0Academy of Management Journal,\u00a0Journal of Management Studies,\u00a0Organization Studies,\u00a0Organization Theory,\u00a0Academy of Management Learning and Education,\u00a0British Journal of Management, <\/em>and\u00a0Research in the Sociology of Organizations.<\/em><\/p>\n

Wright is an incoming editor of JMS Says at\u00a0Journal of Management Studies<\/em>, a former Associate Editor at the\u00a0Academy of Management Learning and Education<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Journal of Management<\/em>. She serves on the editorial boards of the\u00a0Academy of Management Journal,\u00a0Organization Studies,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Organization Research Methods<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Luncheon Speaker Series<\/a> provides Goodman<\/a> faculty, staff and students with an informal opportunity to discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with business colleagues. The talk will run from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Sankey Chamber.<\/p>\n
