{"id":90488,"date":"2024-01-25T12:35:56","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T17:35:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=90488"},"modified":"2024-01-25T17:48:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T22:48:29","slug":"goodman-students-win-national-title-at-ace-canada-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2024\/01\/goodman-students-win-national-title-at-ace-canada-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodman students win national title at ACE Canada competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students representing Brock\u2019s Goodman School of Business brought home a national title and 25 awards from Canada\u2019s largest undergraduate business competition this past weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The 42-member ACE Goodman team captured three overall titles including Chapter of the Year; Highest Win Rate, which is awarded to the team that has the highest medals per delegate ratio; and Delegate of the Year, which was won by third-year Bachelor of Business Administration student Amy McMillian, at ACE Canada nationals held Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20 in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>Goodman Dean\u00a0Barry\u00a0Wright\u00a0says the School is thrilled with the team\u2019s success.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_90506\" style=\"width: 507px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-90506\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-90506\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Hero-Option-2-Goodman-ACE-Delegation-1050x714.jpg\" alt=\"A large group of students with scarves around their necks gather indoors.\" width=\"497\" height=\"338\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-90506\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The ACE Goodman team brought home 25 medals including three overall titles at the Ace Canada Nationals held Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s clear that the Goodman students\u2019 passion and professionalism were on full display this weekend,\u201d Wright said. \u201cThis success not only reflects on their individual accomplishments but is also the result of their incredible teamwork and dedication to pushing the boundaries of their knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The competition saw 18 schools from across Canada come together in at the Sheraton Centre to compete in 17 case events. The event provides delegates the opportunities to enhance their personal development and network with industry professionals.<\/p>\n<p>For the ACE Goodman co-presidents Jack Rupcic and Haley Kim, the team\u2019s spirit contributed to its success at the competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was such an incredible experience seeing our delegation come together throughout the year and show such passion for Goodman through their dedication and hard work,\u201d Rupcic said. \u201cIt created a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I am forever grateful for.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>The competition is based on the values of achievement of personal goals and growth, connection with Canada\u2019s top firms, and empowerment by developing socially responsible leaders.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;ACE Goodman goes beyond developing presentation skills and becoming confident in yourself, which is crucial in the professional world,\u201d Kim said. \u201cThe friendships forged in ACE are not just social connections but a milestone of personal growth, contributing to a community that understands the value of collaboration, communication and camaraderie \u2014 qualities essential for success in both personal and professional realms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Full Goodman ACE results are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jack Rupcic and Haley Kim \u2014 First Overall (B2B Marketing)<\/li>\n<li>Gagandeep Dhindsa and Vedant Vyas \u2014 First Overall (Marketing Management)<\/li>\n<li>Amy McMillan \u2014 Top Five Oral 1, Top Five Oral 2, Second Overall (Fashion Retail Management)<\/li>\n<li>Nathan Hooker \u2014 Top Five Oral 2, Third Overall (Fashion Retail Management)<\/li>\n<li>Austin Holtby \u2014 Top Five Oral 1 (Fashion Retail Management)<\/li>\n<li>Shahzadi Mahnoor Baloch \u2014 Top Five Oral, Top Five Oral 2, Third Overall (Accounting)<\/li>\n<li>Vansh Patel \u2014 Top Five Oral 1, Top Five Oral 2, Second Overall (Corporate Finance)<\/li>\n<li>Emma Kairys \u2014 Top Five Oral 1, Top Five Oral 2, Third Overall (Human Resource Management)<\/li>\n<li>Sahil Rashid \u2014 Top Five Oral 2 (Travel Management)<\/li>\n<li>Mishrka Bucha \u2014 Top Oral 1 (Travel Management)<\/li>\n<li>Matt Campbell \u2014 Oral 2 (Travel Management)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students from Goodman\u2019s JDC Central team were also in action from Friday, Jan. 19 to Sunday, Jan. 21 in Kingston, Ont. The team finished second overall in participation, second in business strategy and third in finance. The Goodman MVP was Manpreet Sandhu.
