Brock students seeking full-time, part-time, summer or co-op employment are invited to meet with more than 70 employers on Tuesday, Jan. 30 in the University\u2019s Ian Beddis Gymnasium.<\/p>\n
Hosted by the University\u2019s Co-op, Career and Experiential Education (CCEE) team, the Experience Expo will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and provide students the opportunity to network with employers, with some also offering on-the-spot interviews.<\/p>\n
Manager of Student and Partner Engagement Melissa Beamer said the event allows students to explore their next steps while in a familiar environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe wanted to create a comfortable setting where students feel at home and can highlight their skills for employers right here at the University\u201d she said. \u201cWe hear over and over again how much employers value what Brock students and alumni contribute to their organizations as top-calibre employees, and this space will allow for those connections to be made.\u201d<\/p>\n
Students are encouraged to dress as though they are going to a job interview and to have their resum\u00e9s ready \u2014 both to submit to potential employers and for on-the-spot document reviews available in the gym.<\/p>\n
Brock\u2019s Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning Rajiv Jhangiani said events like the Experience Expo further bolster the University\u2019s commitment to experiential learning and its positive impact on students\u2019 future aspirations.<\/p>\n
\u201cExperiential education is a hallmark of Brock University, and we aim to ensure that all of our students are able to effectively translate their knowledge, skills and attributes into a meaningful career,” he said.<\/p>\n
Beamer said the CCEE team will also be on site to offer support to attendees.<\/p>\n
\u201cCCEE staff will be there to coach our students on how to chat with employers, assist them in getting headshots taken and to provide on-the-spot reviews of their resum\u00e9s,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Beamer said there are also chances for Brock faculty and staff members to meet employers and learn about employment opportunities for their students, giving insight into current labour market trends.<\/p>\n
\u201cCCEE encourages faculty to stop by and make connections,\u201d she said. \u201cThey know our students and can let employers know what they are capable of as well as collaborating on future partnerships.\u201d<\/p>\n
