A national company that tracks Canada\u2019s research and development performance has ranked Brock University second out of 21 universities for two measures related to publishing.<\/p>\n
According to Research Infosource Inc.\u2019s most recent report, released Thursday, Dec. 7, Brock has the second-highest ranking in the \u201cCross-sector Collaboration Publications Growth\u201d area, with a 163.4 per cent increase from 2017 to 2021. These are publications that were co-authored with researchers from a Canadian non-university institution.<\/p>\n
Brock also has the second-highest ranking in the \u201cInternational Collaboration Publications\u201d area, with 1,326 publications that were co-authored with researchers outside of Canada between 2017 and 2021.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrock has done very well over a five-year period on several research output measures: cross-sector research publications, international research publications and research collaboration publication growth,\u201d says Research Infosource Inc. CEO Ron Freedman. \u201cThis signifies a strong capacity for working with others.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brock\u2019s research income totalled more than $16.2 million in the 2022 fiscal year, according to the Canada\u2019s Top 50 Research Universities 2023 report<\/a>.<\/p>\n Brock has a variety of research collaborations with industry, community organizations, associations, government and other public and private sector partners.<\/p>\n These collaborations occur in all Faculties across campus as well as through entities such as the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI), Brock-Niagara Validation, Prototyping and Manufacturing Institute (VPMI), and Brock LINC.<\/p>\n \u201cThis year\u2019s results demonstrate our researchers\u2019 commitment to forming connections that increase research impact locally and internationally,\u201d says Vice-President, Research Tim Kenyon. \u201cBy recognizing and building on each other\u2019s strengths, we are making a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n
