{"id":89650,"date":"2023-12-05T13:33:10","date_gmt":"2023-12-05T18:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=89650"},"modified":"2023-12-06T11:54:42","modified_gmt":"2023-12-06T16:54:42","slug":"brock-to-launch-research-impact-learning-network-in-new-space","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2023\/12\/brock-to-launch-research-impact-learning-network-in-new-space\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock to launch Research Impact Learning Network in new space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new initiative designed to amplify Brock research and scholarship officially launches next week \u2014 in a space created for a similar purpose.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/research-at-brock\/research-impact\/#1682968668468-3596b2fc-ba9d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brock Research Impact Learning Network<\/a> is holding its inaugural event on Monday, Dec. 11 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in RFP 216. The event is free and open to Brock faculty, students and staff. Those interested in attending are asked to <a href=\"https:\/\/experiencebu.brocku.ca\/event\/248570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">register in advance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, a panel of three Brock faculty will share their experiences with research impact along with insights on advancing impact-oriented work, including integrating strategies into research and funding applications.<\/p>\n<p>The panel consists of Professor of Kinesiology Stephen Cheung, Associate Professor of Child and Youth Studies and Canada Research Chair Matthew Kwan, and Associate Professor of History Elizabeth Vlossak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cAll researchers aim to make a meaningful difference through their work, and those differences take many forms, like contributing to experts\u2019 understanding within a discipline, creating new technology, devices or cultural artifacts, solving specific problems for research partners, or driving policy, social, or organizational changes,\u201d says Vice-President, Research Tim Kenyon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cBrock\u2019s Research Enterprise is committed to helping researchers ensure that their work makes the biggest difference it can,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Brock has also recently created a <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/research-at-brock\/research-impact\/#1693402852177-a58c6faa-b37c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Research Impact Hub<\/a> to help boost the University\u2019s research presence.<\/p>\n<p>Located in RFP 216 near the Rankin Family Pavilion welcome desk, the Research Impact Hub can be used by\u00a0the Brock research community as a workspace to collaborate and advance ideas, host events, develop capacity and see displays showcasing research programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFunding agencies such as those associated with the Tri-Council want to see transdisciplinary teams working on a specific project.
