{"id":89094,"date":"2023-11-03T12:07:03","date_gmt":"2023-11-03T16:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=89094"},"modified":"2023-11-06T10:24:04","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T15:24:04","slug":"makerspace-workshops-to-teach-creative-technologies-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2023\/11\/makerspace-workshops-to-teach-creative-technologies-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"Makerspace workshops to teach creative technologies skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/library\/makerspace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brock University Library Makerspace<\/a> is providing students, staff and faculty with opportunities to develop new skills in 3D printing, modelling and animation as well as podcasting through a series of upcoming introductory workshops.<\/p>\n<p>The free in-person sessions, held in RFP 203, are intended to help participants build their confidence working with 3d Studio Max, a professional 3D modelling, animation and rendering application, and Blender, an open-source 3D creation suite.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of the workshops teach participants from scratch,\u201d says Makerspace Technician and Facilitator Zak Mason. \u201cNo previous experience is required; however, for optimal learning, we recommended participants commit to doing both in the same week when sessions are offered in two parts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also offered this semester are drop-in times for miniature painting and musical jam sessions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Come hang out with like-minded people and make some new friends,&#8221;
