{"id":88437,"date":"2023-10-05T10:49:24","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T14:49:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=88437"},"modified":"2023-10-05T16:49:42","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T20:49:42","slug":"nominations-open-friday-for-senate-byelection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2023\/10\/nominations-open-friday-for-senate-byelection\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations open Friday for Senate byelection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The process for the byelection of full-time teaching staff and professional librarians to Brock\u2019s 2023-24 Senate begins Friday, Oct. 6.<\/p>\n<p>Any member of the full-time teaching staff and any professional librarian is eligible to serve on Senate, which meets regularly from September to May.<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/university-secretariat\/governance\/brock-university-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Brock University Act<\/em><\/a> and the Senate Bylaws set out in the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/university-secretariat\/faculty-handbook\/section-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Section 2 of the Faculty Handbook<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/university-secretariat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/82\/Senate-Electorate-guidelines.pdf\">Senate Electorate Guidelines<\/a>, any member of the full-time teaching staff and any professional librarian is eligible to vote in the Senate election, whether or not they are on leave at the time of the election. Full-time teaching staff includes all teaching faculty members: tenure-track, probationary, limited term, Department Chairs, Associate Deans, research associates and assistants, and post-doctoral appointees as well as any employee engaged full time in the work of teaching or research.<\/p>\n<p>The electorate list will be distributed Friday, Oct. 6 and nominations will open at that time. Any corrections to the electorate list may be submitted to the University Secretary between Monday, Oct. 9 and Friday,\u00a0Oct. 13 at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination forms signed by the candidate and at least four persons eligible to vote in the election will be accepted by the Secretary of Senate via email to <a href=\"mailto:universitysecretary@brocku.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">universitysecretary@brocku.ca<\/a> until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23.
