Two metric tonnes of Concord grapes await the hundreds of Badgers eager to check one of the University\u2019s signature events off their Brock bucket list.<\/p>\n
Known as the University\u2019s messiest tradition, the annual Homecoming Grape Stomp will see students slip and slide through a field of fruit in Brock\u2019s Jubilee Court on Friday, Sept. 22 from noon to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
The event, which University Affairs\u00a0<\/em>magazine\u00a0has called one of the best university traditions in Canada, is part of a packed lineup for Brock\u2019s Homecoming celebration<\/a>, which continues this weekend with Friday\u2019s\u00a0Steel Blade Classic hockey game<\/a>, Saturday\u2019s Brock Night at the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival and Sunday\u2019s Badger Bazaar<\/a> at St. Catharines Market Square.<\/p>\n While it\u2019s free to participate in Grape Stomp, participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold. Costumes are also encouraged.<\/p>\n \u201cGrape Stomp is one of the most anticipated events of the year,\u201d says Student Engagement Co-ordinator Carolyn Hough. \u201cIt\u2019s a chance for students to not only celebrate Niagara\u2019s deep roots in the grape and wine industry, but to also give back to the local community while having a literal ton of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to the grape-tossing fun, the event will also feature live music by Avenue Inn and a free barbecue sponsored by Aramark for the Brock community, while supplies last.<\/p>\n Register for Grape Stomp through ExperienceBU<\/a>.
