Dear Badgers,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What an incredible first week!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As you well know, Brock is renowned for its exceptional student experience, and that was on full display last week as campus came alive with your arrival.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I was privileged to have the opportunity to take part in many aspects of Welcome Week, including move-in weekend (during which <\/span>more than 2,700 students<\/span><\/a> moved into eight residences<\/span>), and our <\/span>New Student Welcome<\/span><\/a>, and I have to say: the energy and enthusiasm you bring to campus and the community is unlike anywhere else.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I also want to extend a special thanks to the team of <\/span>International Student Ambassadors<\/span><\/a> who are helping to welcome and mentor new students who recently-arrived from outside of Canada, supporting their personal and academic success from day one. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brock students participate in a lot of activities throughout Welcome Week, but one of the most significant is the <\/span>Brock Cares Day of Service<\/span><\/a>, which took place this past weekend and saw more than 1<\/span>5<\/span>0 students, staff and alumni taking part in local shoreline cleanups, harvesting produce<\/span> for social profits, helping individuals with disabilities and supporting community events.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Welcome Week may have concluded, but that doesn\u2019t mean campus is any less electric. There\u2019s lots happening on any given day, as a quick look at <\/span>ExperienceBU<\/span><\/a> will tell you, and of course we have <\/span>Homecoming<\/span><\/a> activities (including the <\/span>Steel Blade Classic hockey game<\/span><\/a>) to look forward to later this month.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is indeed a great time to be a Badger, and I hope you\u2019ll take advantage of the many opportunities available to you on campus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From <\/span>advancing our understanding of humans\u2019 impact on the world<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>helping high school teachers responsibly use AI<\/span><\/a>, to <\/span>putting a spotlight on minoritized voices in theatre<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>creating recyclable polymers<\/span><\/a>, Brock continues to make breakthroughs that are improving lives across Niagara, Canada<\/span> and around the world.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year is shaping up to be a spectacular one here at Brock, and I\u2019m so glad you\u2019ll be a part of it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
