The Brock community is mourning the loss of Divino Mucciante, who captured much of the University\u2019s history as its official photographer for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n

Mucciante passed away on Thursday, Aug. 10 at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife Anna, sons David and Mike and three grandchildren.<\/p>\n

Divino Mucciante was an award-winning photographer, receiving a Delaware Camera Award in 1977 among others throughout his long career.<\/p><\/div>\n

He joined Brock in 1976 and was a well-known member of the campus community until his retirement in 2010. During his time at Brock, he photographed celebrities, politicians and community leaders as well as students, staff and faculty.<\/p>\n

Mucciante also played a crucial role in building and maintaining Brock\u2019s photo archives.<\/p>\n

\u201cDivino was a true gentleman and a wonderful photographer,\u201d says David Sharron, Head of Archives and Special Collections for the Brock University Library. \u201cNot only did he capture life at Brock for 32 years, but he also carefully maintained the photos and negatives of the photographers before him. When Divino retired, he transferred the entire photographic history of the university to the Archives and Special Collections for preservation. We owe a lot to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

An award-winning photographer, Mucciante was a member of the Professional Photographers of Canada and his work is featured in the permanent collection of the National Archives of Canada.<\/p>\n

A chapel service<\/a> is being held on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 4:30 p.m. at Pleasantview Funeral Home in Fonthill. Flags at Brock University will be lowered to half-mast on the same day in Mucciante\u2019s honour.<\/p>\n\n\t
