In an assessment of university sport management research contributions across the world, Brock University ranks No. 1 in Canada and ninth overall.<\/p>\n
Published annually by the University of North Texas\u2019 Sports Innovation Project, this year\u2019s ranking considered the number of research publications produced over the past decade within three of the world\u2019s flagship sport management journals: Journal of Sport Management<\/em>, published by the North American Society of Sport Management; European Sport Management Quarterly<\/em>, published by the European Association for Sport Management; and Sport Management Review<\/em>, published by the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand.<\/p>\n Brock University Sport Management (SPMA) scholars produced 54 research publications within the three prominent journals, ranking Brock top in Canada and ninth overall out of the 62 universities worldwide that were included in the assessment.<\/p>\n Top Brock contributors include Shannon Kerwin, Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director for the Department of Sport Management, and Michael Naraine, Associate Professor of Sport Management, who each placed within the ranking\u2019s Top 100 authors.<\/p>\n Naraine says Brock\u2019s ranking is a testament to the groundbreaking and high-impact scholarship that SPMA faculty are collectively producing and helps showcase that Brock is a strong research institution.<\/p>\n \u201cWe hold our weight against top research-focused schools,\u201d he says. \u201cNot only is Brock\u2019s SPMA program the largest in the country, both by number of faculty and student enrolment, but we\u2019re also one of the best. Our faculty members stay up to date with current and emerging trends in the sport industry and bring their innovative research findings and new learnings into the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n SPMA faculty are leading the advancement of knowledge in areas such as digital marketing, enhanced governance practices in sport, and improved systems of people and culture.
