The entire Brock community is shocked and saddened by the display of hate-motivated violence which took place at the University of Waterloo on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Police believe the knife attack \u2014 which injured three University of Waterloo community members \u2014 was a hate-motivated incident related to gender identity.<\/p>\n
Violence related to gender identity and gender expression is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in our society. We condemn it in the strongest possible terms.<\/p>\n
At a time when the rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ community members are under attack around the world, it is critical that we reaffirm our commitment to standing united against all forms of hatred, intolerance and bigotry.<\/p>\n
Although Pride Month will soon come to a close, Brock will continue to fly the Pride flag year round as the University has done in the past, in a show of solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.<\/p>\n
To our many friends and colleagues at the University of Waterloo, please know that our thoughts are with you as you recover from this senseless act of violence.<\/p>\n
